Even though the pumpkins were covered for the past few weeks, the squash borer insects still swarmed the pumpkins and layed eggs on the stems. Grandma picked off the eggs and sprayed with organic insect spray. Hopefully, this will prevent the eggs hatching and the larvae eating the pumpking stems. With the pumpkins uncovered, most of the pumpkin vines are growing fast.

Fourth of July Flowerworks

Most Americans celebrate the Fouth of July with fireworks. Grandma celebrates the Fourth with flowers - flowerworks! Nemal like the flowerworks much better than fireworks. The firework noise really scares her. Poppy also likes the flowerworks.

Mama Still Sitting on Eggs

Checking on the duck nest in front of the house last night, Grandma was concerned that the mama duck was gone and couldn't see the eggs. Grandma thought the eggs had hatched. Instead, the mama duck took a break from the nest and protected the eggs with mulch and feathers while she was gone. This morning, the mama duck was back on the nest keeping her eggs warm.
