Most of the pumpkin plants are starting to die off and won't produce any more pumpkins. The Red Warty Thing and Valenciano pumpkins are still growing well, and there may be hope that they will produce pumpkins. Some of the large green pumpkins, like the Walczak, are turning orange.

Other Garden Happenings...

Zany for Zinnias

Grandma loves zinnia flowers. Most years, Grandma's zinnias have been mostly pink shades. This year Grandma tried all sorts of zinnia colors.

Colorful Tomatoes

Besides all colors of zinnias, Grandma has been growing a rainbow of tomatoes. Here is a sample of all the colors.

Processing the Produce

Besides tomato sauce, Grandma has canned salsa with tomatoes, onions, and peppers from the garden. Grandma canned 10 pints from this batch of veggies.

Grandma also started fermenting sauerkraut. Grandma thinly sliced the cabbage, added salt, pounded the shredded cabbage, and packed it in jars. Now the sauerkraut needs to ferment in a dark room for about a month.

Another Rabbit Trapped

Grandpa trapped another rabbit this week making it 18 rabbits this summer.
