Right now Grandma has only 7 pumpkins that are ripening and close to being picked.

Even though it is late in the season, some of the pumpkin plants are still growing, either climbing up or through to the other side of the fence. Some of these plants have pumpkins that hopefully will get bigger before it gets cold.

Other Garden Happenings

Fall Vegetable Plantings

While some of the vegetable garden is winding down, some vegetables are just getting started. Grandma planted Swiss Chard, Radishes, Peas, Bok Choy, and Lettuce a couple of weeks ago. They all grow well in the cooler weather.

Vegetables Continue to Grow into Fall

A couple of vegetables planted in the spring thrive in September. The Brussels sprouts are big and the sprouts are forming. The green beans grew so tall and thick that the 6-foot trellis they have been growing on has toppled. Even with the tower toppled, Grandma continues to harvest the green beans.

Watermelons

Grandma was giving up on having any watermelons to harvest this year. When she was weeding the melon patch, she found two watermelons about the size of a baseball.

Monarch Butterflies

There have been about 20 Monarch butterflies in Grandma's garden. They like the purple flower in the photo and video called Brazilian Vervain.

Another Trapped Rabbit

This week, Grandma and Grandpa have trapped the 19th rabbit of this growing season.
