Now there are pumpkins on all but one of the plants. Some are very small and hopefully will grow into bigger pumpkins. This is the time of the year when the plants start dying back. Hopefully, the pumpkins will continue to grow.

Other Garden Happenings...

Squash

Besides pumpkins, Grandma is growing a variety of squash. There are many shapes, sizes, and colors of squash.

Harvesting Onions

Grandma had a great crop of onions this year. After the tops of the onions fell over and turned brown, Grandma pulled the onions. The onions are now drying on racks in the greenhouse in the garage. As the onions dry for the next few weeks, the outer layer of the onions turns into a protective 'skin'. This skin will help the onion stay fresh for many months.

Extra Vegetables

Grandma's gardens produce more vegetables than Grandma and Grandpa can eat. Grandma makes tomato sauce (or tomato soup as Soren calls it) with extra red tomatoes and cans it to use later in recipes. Grandma shares extra veggies with neighbors, including green beans, peppers, and tomatoes that Grandma doesn't use for canning.

Another Trapped Rabbit

Grandma and Grandpa have trapped the 17th rabbit this year. This one is a bigger rabbit.
