With the hot weather and recent rains, the pumpkins are quickly getting larger. One pumpkin on the Cinderella Carriage is as big as Grandma's fist. There is now a pumpkin on the Walczak plant.

Other Garden Happenings...

Garden Tour

Last Tuesday, Grandma hosted a tour of her garden. Along with other master gardeners, Grandma talked about plants, flowers and vegetables with other gardeners. 87 people enjoyed a beautiful evening in Grandma's garden.

Garden Harvest

Beets and Green Beans

Grandma harvested beets and green beans this week. With so many beans, Grandma froze them to eat later. The beets were boiled, peeled, sliced and canned with a spiced liquid. Great Grandpa Charlie loves Grandma's spiced beets.

Colorful Tomatoes

Grandma is harvesting all colors of tomatoes including red (large cherry), yellow (sungold cherry), dark red (black and chocolate cherry), purple and yellow (indigo kumquat grape), and purple and green striped (pink berkley tie-dye).

Garden Pests

Rabbit Trapped

Grandma and Grandpa trapped the fourteenth rabbit this summer. Grandpa was out of town, so Grandma had to release it in the country.

Bugs!

Grandma has so many Japanese beetles in her garden. These beetles especially love Grandma's roses. They will eat the leaves and flowers, but won't kill the plant. Since there not spays that control them, Grandma and Grandpa drop the Japanese beetles off the plants into soapy water which kills the bugs.
